Semester or Year Long

RU Academic Semester and/or Year Programs:

A longer and more in-depth international experience; language study possible; may or may not have language requirement; opportunities to study and live with students and members of host culture; opportunities to study with professors of host culture.  A few of these are RU Exchanges where the RU student pays RU tuition & fees and/or room & board, and the overseas student pays his/her institution’s cost - then the students essentially "trade places".  Exchanges are among the most economical form of overseas study.  Students must meet with and apply through the RU Faculty Director (see below).

Non-RU Study Abroad Programs - Academic Semester, Year or Summer

Students attend by applying through other US affiliate institutions or international education organizations to the host institution (in almost any country).  With close consultation with the International Education Center, your academic advisor and department chairpersons, and the Registrar’s Office, credits will still transfer to RU.  An “RU Study Abroad Approval” Form is mandatory when participating in a Non-RU Study Abroad Program.  The form can be obtained in the International Education Center.   A copy of a financial aid agreement from both the host institution and Radford University should be turned in to the Registrar’s office in order to be registered for the non-RU sponsored program.
