RU-University of Blaise Pascal Semester Exchange Program
The University of Blaise Pascal, located in Clermont-Ferrand and Vichy, France, enrolls over 14,000 in over 250 different programs. Students interested in French as a Foreign Language may take French courses there at six different levels, and students fluent in French have the entire curriculum available to them.
A special program taught in English focuses on International Business in a European context. This program is taught in the spa resort of Vichy, about thirty minutes from Clermont by train and near a national park dedicated to volcanoes. Students may take three classes, including communication, management, marketing, and tourism, while completing a six-credit French class. (Students would only need an additional six credits of French to earn a B.A. degree at RU.) The 2007-2008 course schedule will be expanded next year to include courses in intercultural communication and tourism.
Students may live in a university-owned residence hall, in a shared apartment with other international students, or in a host family.
UBP offers students a diploma if they successfully complete two semesters of study in the International Business program. In addition, students may choose only to study in the Fall or Spring semesters.
RU students pay RU tuition for the Fall or Spring semester (or Academic Year), and they pay UBP for housing in its residence hall. UBP will also facilitate students' housing in apartments or host families. There is modest food service available on the Vichy campus. Students will also need to obtain a French visa to enter France and study there - for explicit instructions, click here and then go to the CampusFrance website to complete the application. (Be sure to click on the USA flag to get the English version of the CampusFrance website. The RU IEC will be happy to help you with the application process.)
Students should have a minimum 2.5 GPA for this program. Application materials should be submitted to the RU International Education Center by October 15, 2008 for Spring 2009 and February 1, 2009 for Fall 2009/AY 2009-2010.
