Opening Heart and Home: A Discussion on Chinese Adoption

More than 50,000 Chinese children have been adopted by American families since 1992. Join us as local families discuss their experiences adopting Chinese children. Marge Savage of Commonwealth Catholic Charities will also discuss the process and growing trend of Chinese adoption. The audience will then be invited to participate in a question-and-answer time at the end of the session.

Oriental Medicine: A View from the West
A Presentation by Robert Smith, M.Ac., LAc.

Smith will present an overview of Oriental Medicine in the West. He will examine classical Chinese medicine in comparison with the medical theories and practices in the West. He will also investigate TCM, 5 element theory, Taoist-I Ching medicine, and Japanese meridian therapy. Smith’s presentation promises to leave the audience with a clearer picture of what 5,000-year old medicine holds for the modern medical chaos of the Western world.

Starring Zhang Ziyi, the young actress who played the willful governor’s daughter in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

View displays of Chinese-inspired art created by RU students, take a brief Mandarin lesson, try your hand at Chinese calligraphy, and hear the myths and legends surrounding Chinese New Year. This interactive night is filled with performances and seminars promising to give a first-hand look into Chinese culture. Come celebrate the Year of the Boar with us!
