The Zylphia Shu-En Kirk Scholars study Mandarin Chinese through the two semesters intermediate sequence and then receive a partial stipend to study in China in May and June for four weeks. 

While in China, the Kirk Scholars continue their language studies and travel the country, visiting sites such as the Great Wall; Tiananmen Square; the Forbidden City; and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and some other ones. After completion of the summer course, they will have a minor in chineese language
