Sept 14, 7 pm—Lecture on “Gender and Democracy in Cuba” by Ilja Luciak, Chair of Political Science at VT (Cook 107)

 

Sept 15, 11 am-3 pm—Latin American Arts/Crafts Exhibit and Demonstrations (Heth Plaza)

 

Sept 22, 7 pm --Film:  Calle 54.  Madrid-based filmmaker Fernando Trueba explores the world of Latin jazz (McGuffey 203)

 

Sept 26,   10 am to 5 pm—Art Exhibit: “America Continua” and “Chiapas—Primero de Enero de 1994” by David Angel Garcia, artist and graphic designer from Chiapas, currently a resident of Toronto (Heth Ballroom)

7  pm—Lecture: “The New Wave of Free Trade” by Jim Hodgson, Caribbean-Latin America Secretary, United Church of Canada and Co-chair of the International Human Rights Program Committee, KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives ( Cook 107)

 

Sept 27, 12:00—Lunch and Living Art Show: “Changing Lives in Chiapas” by David  Garcia (Heth Lounges A & C)

Oct 10, 7  pm—Multi-media Presentation: “Latin American Media” by Analia Croci, Fox Latinamerica Copywriter/Producer (Cook 107)

 

Oct 14, 6-9 pm—“Viva La Salsa”—Salsa dance performances (Heth Ballroom/Plaza)

 

Oct 18,  dinner in Dalton Cafeteria will feature Latin American recipes

8 pm—Latin American Heritage Concert by RU Faculty & Students (Bondurant Auditorium in Preston)

Oct 20, 7 pm—Film: “Frida”—the life of iconic, passionate Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.  (McGuffey  203)
