RU IEC Photo Contest and Essay Contest

Students who studied abroad in 2007-2008, including Maymester and Summer 2008, are eligible to participate in the 2008 IEC Photo and Essay contests.  The winner of each contest will receive a $100 check, while second and third place winners will receive $75 and $50, respectively.

 

Photo Contest

 

Students with great pictures from their overseas adventures are encouraged to submit as many entries as they would like.  (All submissions will possibly be used in RU publicity shots, so they will become the property of the IEC.  Please keep that in mind when you are submitting entries.)

 

Digital entries may be sent to the International Education Center at iec@radford.edu electronically, noting "Photo Contest Entry" in the subject line of the e-mail message.  Prints may be dropped off at the International Education Center in Cook 108 or sent via campus mail to Box 7002.

 

Entries are due on September 30, 2008, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

 

Essay Contest

 

The IEC is using the phrase "essay contest," but what we're really looking for is a great "blog entry" - a personal account of something wonderful that happened during your study abroad experience.  It may be a travel journal entry from your course assignment, a photo essay with pictures/captions telling the story, or a reflective work that shows how the study abroad experience transformed the student.

 

There is a 500-word limit.

 

Students should submit their entries electronically, if possible, or direct us to URLs with the blog entry the student would like to submit to the International Education Center at iec@radford.edu.  Conventional methods - drop off at Cook 108 or mail to Box 7002 nin campus mail - are also acceptable.

 

Again, entries become the property of the IEC for use in their promotional materials and on their website.  Entries are due on September 30, 2008, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
